NSBMA's Membership Model focuses on ensuring that student board members are equipped with the needed resources for their year of service. NSBMA membership provides student board members with year-round training, resources, and opportunities to strengthen their effectiveness. During the 2026–27 school year, members will receive access to:

  • START Conference (September 18-20, 2026): A three-day virtual training focused on governance, district policy, student outreach, advocacy, policy proposal development, and mock board meeting practice.

  • STEPS Conference (November 14, 2026, TBD): A one-day virtual follow-up that helps students turn policy proposals and other priorities into actionable implementation strategies.

  • BUDGET Training (January 30, 2027, TBD): A three-hour virtual training covering school district finance, revenue sources, budget cycles, collective bargaining, equitable resource allocation, and the connection between budgets and policy priorities.

  • Additional Webinars: Virtual sessions that strengthen student skills, such as public speaking or intergenerational partnership.

  • Member-Only Resources: Selected templates, guides, reflection tools, and implementation resources exclusive for NSBMA membership.

  • Recognition Pathway: Earn a professional certificate recognizing your leadership and skill development as a student board member, designed to be shared on LinkedIn, résumés, and other professional materials.
